Prior to that, I obtained a Bachelors degree in molecular biology as well as an Honours and Masters degree in biochemistry from Stellenbosch University. I completed my medical internship at Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg. During my community service I rotated between multiple primary healthcare clinics in the south of Johannesburg where I was often the only doctor available to patients.
